Master of Arts Programme Information

  The MA degree, awarded through Global School of Theology in conjunction with Cape Theological Seminary, requires the completion of (a) 36 credit hours and an extensive written Capstone paper, or (b) 30 credit hours and a thesis. The MA programme is a practical ministry degree, training leaders for the various ministries of the church. The accredited postgraduate courses confront students with learning activities and experiences of breadth and depth in an educational context that is responsive to their spiritual and intellectual needs.

  The MA degree programme in Ministerial Studies requires completion of “core” requirements, plus courses from one of two academic concentrations.

Core Class Requirements:
  All students, regardless of the track they enter, are required to take 5 core classes;

  • BIB5033  The Bible as Literature: Theory & Methodology
  • BIB5043  Exposition of Pneumatology in Lucan Literature
  • LDR5013 Foundations for Christian Leadership
  • MIS5013 Biblical Theology of Mission
  • RES5023 Graduate Research and Writing: Principles & Practice

Class Scheduling:
  Classes are held twice a year normally in the 1st and 2nd weeks of June and the last week of November through the 1st week of December. During that time, students are allowed to take one course each week. New students will be required to enroll in Graduate Research and Writing the first week and then a course in their area of concentration the 2nd week.

Note: The June 2010 sessions are being rescheduled due to the World Cup coming to Cape Town at that time. We will be alerting existing students to the new schedule, and posting it here for prospective students, as soon as it is finalized.

Concentration Requirements:
